I don’t have a 3Ds, which means I don’t own Pokemon X or Y. This fact deeply saddens me. I held out in the Gameboy market for a long time, hoping to buy the DS after it improved. Finally, when the DSiXL rolled out, I shelled out a boat load of money to buy it and get Pokemon Black & White. I thought, “Good job, Missy. You finally outwitted Nintendo. Now, you have the best Gameboy and you can play Pokemon for years to come. Wa-ha-ha!”
Wrong. A little less than a year later, Nintendo released the 3DS, and I threw my hands in the air and accepted the inevitable fate of people on the cusp of adulthood: Either I keep buying these new handheld systems, or wave goodbye to my childhood and spend that $300 on groceries and gas. I chose food, but very begrudgingly.
However, my younger sister bought the new 3DSXL, and Pokemon X along with it. So, every so often, I sneak into her room, borrow her DS, and stuff her adorable Pokemon with as many Pokepuffs as they can hold.
While I don’t own the game, a girl can still dream. So, to offset the longing I feel for the blissful days of my childhood, I wrote an amigurumi pattern for these Pokepuffs. I thought I would share it with you guys, too! Here’s what they look like:
I used these colors for the Cherry Pokepuff:
Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Yarn!” in Mango (top icing) and Light Peach (cake)
Red Heart’s “Super Saver” in Soft White (bottom icing) Â and Hot Red (cherry)
These are the colors I used for the Green Tea Pokepuff:
Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Yarn! Neons” in Neon Green (cake)
Red Heart’s “Super Saver” in Soft White (bottom icing)
Michael’s “Impeccable” in Kelly Green (top icing)
Gauge doesn’t really matter much in this pattern; I used a 5 mm hook for everything. You can use whatever size hook you like, and whatever ply and color yarn you prefer!

Ch. 2
Row 1: 6 sc in first st of ch 2 (6)
Row 2: 2 sc in each st (12)
Row 3: *sc, inc* (18)

Bind off, leaving a long tail. Using yarn needle, sew through each stitch and cinch tight to close. Tie knot, weave remaining tail in, and trim. I use my needle and send the tail end to the other side of my work, pull tight, and snip close to the work so the tail stays inside.

Bind off, and leave long tail for sewing. Set aside… For now.
Top icing
Ch. 2

Row 5: *in same st make 1sc & 2dc; sl st in next st.* sl st to first sc
Bind off, and leave long tail for sewing.
Cherry (optional)
Ch. 2
Row 1: 6 sc in first st of ch 2 (6)
Row 2: sc in each st (6)
Bind off, leaving long tail. With yarn needle, sew through each stitch and cinch tight to close. Tie knot, but do not cut remaining tail.
Assembly
Sew cherry to top icing. Be careful not to pull too tightly, as it will deflate the cherry. Once secured, tie knot on underside of top icing, and send tail up through the cherry. Trim, leaving a little behind as the cherry’s stem.
Sew top icing to bottom icing. I sew just inside the icing swoops, leaving them free to move and be their swoopy selves, though you can tack these down too for a more polished look. Once you’ve made it all the way around, tie a knot and weave in the tail. I sent my tail into the un-sewn space between the two icings, pulled tight, and cut the yarn close to the work so the tail stayed inside.
Once top and bottom icing are combined into super icing, sew them to the top of the PokĂ©puff (the top is the side where you didn’t decrease!). Again, I left the icing swoops alone. Tie off, and weave tail in again.
