Back again with yet another Stardew Valley inspired make – if you missed it, I posted my chicken tutorial a few week’s back and have been making them to take with me to my next market because I really think folks will like them a ton. I also have a tradition with my friend group to have a “Stardew Sunday” co-op session almost every Sunday of the month (all of our schedule’s willing, of course) and I just recently “married” Krobus on our co-op file. You don’t actually “marry” Krobus, but he’s living in my house with me and I absolutely adore him.
So, naturally, I turned the object of my platonic affection into an actual object: A Krobus plushie, that makes a super cute purse/backpack charm!
He works up super quick, and only requires black and white yarn and a little white embroidery floss, so you can most likely make him with what you have on hand. I’ve been using plastic lobster claws to make my amassing Krobus army into purse charms. These are the ones I ordered and use with my shop – I just sew a couple loops with black yarn left over from fastening off through the bottom loop to attach Krobus to the clip.
YouTube Pattern Video
Below you’ll find the pattern video. I use YouTube’s “Chapters” feature to sort each individual instruction (rounds, sewing, sections, etc.) into a time stamped section. You should be able to see the chapters in the timeline/seek bar of the video below, but if you click over to YouTube, you’ll be able to pull the chapters up and move more easily between them.
As always, with the pattern write-up here on my blog, the written instructions are “bare bones” – they’re designed to work hand-in-hand with the video tutorial, so there aren’t a lot of images or descriptive language. If you’re having any issues, please refer to the video! I work hard to make them as clear as possible.
If the video still doesn’t answer your questions, drop me a comment here on the blog or over on the video on YouTube, and I’ll see if I can help you out. 👍
Concepts
I would grade this pattern as a beginner + pattern, because:
- we’ll be crocheting the legs together to join them to the body
- we’re working in black yarn 😓a necessary but terrible thing for this one!
- it incorporates a little shaping, with the “stem” at the top of Krobus’ head
- it has just a little more sewing, since we’re sewing the eyes
- we’ll be using slip and single crochet stitches
However, as with all of my tutorials, I’ll guide you through each step to the best of my ability! Don’t be afraid to give it a try, as I do a pretty good job going slow and helping you to master new concepts. 😍
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in black and white, or your choice of weight and color – just remember to size hooks and accessories accordingly.
- 4mm crochet hook (or whatever size you need, based on the weight of yarn you choose)
- white embroidery floss
- Your standard amigurumi items: tapestry/yarn needle(s), stitch marker, scissors, stuffing
- Optional: key chain/lobster clasp attachment, if making a charm out of him!
Pattern Notes
All of my patterns are written with US terminology.
As with most amigurumi projects, your work will be formed by crocheting in a continuous spiral, with a stitch marker marking the beginning of each round. Any other construction style will be indicated in the pattern!
Abbreviations
These are my most commonly used abbreviations. Any special stitches or exceptions will be denoted in the pattern as they appear!
| rnd(s) | round(s) |
| sc | single crochet |
| MR | magic ring |
| ( ) | number of stitches at the end of each round |
| * * | repeat instructions, in the order they appear, the indicated amount of times |
| inc | increase (typically single crochet – otherwise denoted) |
| BLO | work in the back loop only |
| FLO | work in the front loop only |
| slp st | slip stitch |
| dc | double crochet |
| hdc | half double crochet |
| ch | chain |
| st(s) | stitch(es) |
| YO | yarn over |
Pattern
Legs, make 2!
Begin with black yarn and by forming a MR.
Rnd 1: 8 sc in MR (8)
Rnds 2-3: 1 sc in each st around [2 rnds sc total]
For the first leg, fasten off by slp st to first st and cutting a short tail. Either weave this tail in, or simply stuff it inside of the leg.
Repeat Rnds 1-3 for second leg, but don’t fasten off! Instead, we’ll join the two legs together like so:
Rnd 1: Ch 1 st. Then, place a slp st in the slp st of the 1st leg. Working around top of 1st leg, 8 sc sts – your last st should take you all the way around to your 1st slp st.
Then, place 1 sc in the back of the chain between the two legs, then 8 sc around the top of the other leg. I occasionally will work a decrease, if I have an extra “stitch” on this leg, in the last two stitches of this leg. You’ll sometimes get a bit of a gap between the ch 1, and a decrease goes a long way to help this out. Highly recommend checking out the video for this section! Then, place 1 sc across the ch 1. You should end with 18 sts total (8 per leg + 1 sc on either side of the chain).
Rnd 2: *2sc, inc* x 6 (24)
Rnd 3: 1 sc in each st around
Rnd 4: *3 sc, inc* x 6 (30)
Rnds 5-8: 1 sc in each st around [4 rnds sc total!]
Rnd 9: *3 sc, dec* x 6 (24)
Rnds 10-11: 1 sc in each st around [2 rnds sc total!]
Stuff here, sending plenty to the tips of the legs.
Rnd 12: *2 sc, dec* x 6 (18)
Rnd 13: 1 sc in each st around
Rnd 14: *1 sc, dec* x 6 (12)
Add any additional stuffing here.
Rnd 15: *dec* x 5, 2 sc (7)
Rnds 16-19: 1 sc in each st around [4 rnds sc total!]
Rnd 20: 1 dec, 4 sc (6)
Fasten off by slp st to the first dec, then cut a long tail to sew with. Use this tail to sew through each FLO on the last rnd, pulling tight to close off the round. Then weave the tail directly inside of the “stem” at the top of the head, and off to the right-hand side of the top of the body.
Use your hand to gently curl this “stem” into a spiral that spirals off to the left, then pull the tail tightly to reinforce this shape. Without letting off any slack on the tail, tie a surface knot to keep the tail pulled taught inside the stem and hold this curve shape.
If attaching a keychain/lobster clip, use any remaining tail to sew the keychain attachment on.
Face and mouth details
With white yarn, sew each eye by stacking 5 stitches into an oval shape between Rnds 7-10 on the body (space between Rnd 7 & 8 for the bottom of the eye, space between Rnd 9 & 10 for top of eye). Sew both eyes in this manner, so they’re centered on the front of the body (“stem” should be swirled off to the left hand side!). Once sewn, tie a knot and weave in any remaining tail.
Using some white embroidery floss, begin sewing the zig-zagged mouth, starting with the first stitch directly centered in between the eyes and in the space between Rnds 6 & 7 (you’ll be sewing over Rnd 6 for the smile, just below the bottoms of the eyes). Continue zig-zagging, creating three “points” for the mouth, and capping either end with a diagonal stitch that gives it more of a smile shape (curving down from the eyes).

Complete!
As always, thanks for tuning in. If you haven’t already checked out my YouTube page, I’d be forever grateful if you’d consider subscribing or watching my other tutorial videos. I try to post twice a month with a new tutorial!
Normal, obligatory legal banter:
Please, if you’d like to share this pattern, link folks directly to this blog page, or to the video on YouTube. I work really hard on my patterns and post them for free – please don’t copy my stuff and sell it as your own pattern! You can make and sell items made from this pattern – and while I would love a mention on the listing or a link back to my blog, it’s not a requirement.
